2011 Calendar - THE PIPERS' SCENE

JUST £5 (plus p & p)

The band's great new 2011 calendar - created to mark the band's 30th anniversary - is now available. And in fact, it's been going down so well were now into our third print run.

Two of East Lothian's top professional photographers - John Archibald and Nick Callaghan, along with the band's excellent 'resident' photographer Garry Menzies, took the shots throughout this year, and the calendar was designed by one of Scotland's leading graphic design consultancies, Shaw Marketing and Design.

"We were keen to avoid the standard photos of a band marching along a street," said Pipe Major David Leckie, "and have worked with these outstanding photographers to come up with something a bit different which captures some of the character of the band and the area in which we live. This is a professional publication, produced by experienced and skilled designers."

PM David Leckie - St Mary's One of the most striking and powerful photos is of Pipe Major David Leckie himself, head bowed in St Mary's Church as poppies fall around him. Other shots include a snowball fight on the hills near Gifford, spooky encounters at Hailes Castle, an aerial shot of two band members at the top of the Hopetoun Monument in the Garleton Hills and a runaway drum on the Nungate bridge in Haddington.

Harvest home A main shot has been taken to represent each month of the year, with a smaller photo beside the calendar section.

"This project will raise much-needed funds for the band to bring on new members and continue our traditions as we celebrate the end of being the Scottish Pipe Band of the Year and mark our 30th anniversary in 2011," commented David Leckie.

In addition to the calendar, the band has produced two Christmas cards and a number of blank greetings cards which are also on sale.
